The Project

Creating Privacy Without Compromising Natural Light

For this South London residential property, the homeowners wanted to transform their existing terrace into a more private and comfortable outdoor space without losing the feeling of openness.

The solution was a bespoke privacy glass screen system, designed and installed by KP Glass & Glazing to follow the shape of the terrace and work seamlessly with the existing decking and surrounding architecture.

Rather than using a conventional solid boundary, the use of privacy glass provides an elegant architectural finish while still allowing plenty of natural light into the space.

Bespoke Design for a Unique Outdoor Space

Every terrace presents its own challenges, particularly where existing walls, decking, doors and changes in direction are involved.

For this project, the privacy screens were individually designed and manufactured to suit the dimensions and layout of the terrace. The glass panels were arranged around the perimeter, creating a continuous sense of privacy while maintaining a clean and contemporary appearance.

The black vertical supports and discreet glass fittings provide a strong architectural contrast against the translucent glass, complementing the property’s modern exterior.

Privacy Without Making the Terrace Feel Enclosed

One of the key considerations was achieving privacy while retaining natural light.

The frosted appearance of the glass obscures direct views through the screens, creating a more secluded outdoor environment. At the same time, the glass allows daylight to pass through, helping the terrace remain bright and open.

The result is a more private outdoor space that still feels connected to the surrounding garden and sky.

Precision Installation by KP Glass & Glazing

As with all bespoke glazing projects, accurate measurements and careful installation were essential.

KP Glass & Glazing supplied and installed the glass screens to suit the existing terrace, paying particular attention to the junctions between the individual panels, the changes in direction and the relationship between the glass, posts and decking.

The finished installation creates clean lines around the terrace while maintaining a consistent contemporary aesthetic.
